Senator Carper announces an agreement about nighway bridges March 14, 2005 — Wilmington
Senator Carper helped announce that the state, CSX railroad and the city of Wilmington reached an agreement on the status of highway bridges over railroads, resulting in the replacement or repair of four highway bridges: three in Wilmington and one near Newport. Behind the senator is the 9th Street bridge, the first in line to be replaced. Terry Petrucci of DelDOT was the emcee (background) and Representative Helene Keeley (right) shared her thanks for the bridge repairs.

Senator Carper was joined by members of the American Lung Association - Delaware Chapter, Clean Air Council and the Delaware Nature Society, at Fox Point State Park to announce his opposition to the president's Clear Skies Act. Speaking with him were Frank O'Donnell, President of Clean Air Watch; Dick Fleming of the Delaware Nature Society; and Mike McCabe, former Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
