March 14, 2005 — Wilmington
Senator Carper helped announce that the state, CSX railroad and the city of Wilmington reached an agreement on the status of highway bridges over railroads, resulting in the replacement or repair of four highway bridges: three in Wilmington and one near Newport. Behind the senator is the 9th Street bridge, the first in line to be replaced. Terry Petrucci of DelDOT was the emcee (background) and Representative Helene Keeley (right) shared her thanks for the bridge repairs.

Senator Carper had the opportunity to speak with members of the Delaware National Guard and thank them for their service to our country.

March 7, 2005 — Salisbury, MD
During his visit to Salisbury University, Senator Carper helped introduce his internship partnership with the University. Salisbury junior Carla Pini was the first intern to take advantage of this program and worked for the senator in his Georgetown office. Senator Carper listened to Carla talk about her duties as an intern.

March 4, 2005 — Wilmington
Senator Carper was joined by members of the American Lung Association - Delaware Chapter, Clean Air Council and the Delaware Nature Society, at Fox Point State Park to announce his opposition to the president's Clear Skies Act. Speaking with him were Frank O'Donnell, President of Clean Air Watch; Dick Fleming of the Delaware Nature Society; and Mike McCabe, former Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
