August 19, 2005 — RehobothSenator Carper helped announce $1 million in federal funding for the new Destination Station Center. The money will be used to plan, design and build an energy exploration center at the beach.
August 18, 2005 — DoverSenator Carper was on hand to help recognize 120 Delaware State Parks Americorps volunteers for their work. The event honored the graduating members, who increased the protection, promotion and services available to visitors in Delaware's State Parks in 2005.
August 16, 2005 — NewarkSenator Carper helped announce $9 million in federal funds to expand commuter rail service to and from Newark. The expansion will help increase the frequency of trains from Wilmington to Newark and build a new rail connection from Newark to Middletown.
August 16, 2005 — WilmingtonSenator Carper announced $20 million in federal funding, through the Transportation Bill, to provide expansion options for vehicle and pedestrian traffic near Wilmington's Riverfront. He was joined, and thanked, by other elected officials and key members of the Riverfront Community.
August 15, 2005 — DoverSenator Carper was welcomed at PPG Industries where he was recognized for his strong support for Class Action Reform. He also toured the facility and had a roundtable meeting with staff and senior executives from other Delaware manufacturing companies.
August 15, 2005 — MilfordSenator Carper participated in ceremonies for the groundbreaking for Delaware's first Veteran's Home. Joined by many elected officials and nearly 1,000 veterans, the $29 million project was celebrated, as it will provide housing for 150 of Delaware's veterans. Sixty-five percent of funding came from the federal government.
August 9, 2005 — DoverSenator Carper announced $1.8 million for a project to realign Wyoming Mill Road in order to reduce traffic congestion. The announcement also gave 12.5 acres of land to annex Schutte Park, where thousands of children play sports during the summer.
August 8, 2005 — SeafordSenator Carper toured Seaford Central Elementary School to commend them for their participation in the Environmental Protection Agency Energy STAR program.
August 8, 2005 — HarringtonSenator Carper was one of the first to welcome Jack Nicklaus and his new course, Bayside Resorts Golf Club, to Delaware. This is the first Nicklaus course to be built in the First State.
August 4, 2005 — HarringtonSenator Carper announced $8.5 million in federal funding to build an alternate truck route outside downtown Harrington. About 220 tractor-trailers, like this one, pass through Harrington daily, causing safety and deterioration concerns.
August 4, 2005 — DoverSenator Carper donated his second pint of blood for the 3rd Annual Summer Blood Challenge at the Dover office of Blood Bank of Delmarva.
