Governor Jack Markell and Senators Carper and Kaufman gathered at the Department of Labor to discuss the federal Recovery and Reinvestment Act's benefits for Delaware, which include the creation of thousands of jobs and the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in key improvement projects.

Delaware high school students with dreams of attending the nation's elite service academies after graduation had opportunity to talk with representatives in person at the 8th Annual Service Academy Information Night, proudly hosted by Senator Carper, with the cooperation of Delaware Technical and Community College.

Senator Carper teamed up with 22 Wilmington police recruits to give blood at the newly renovated and relocated downtown donor center in Wilmington. Senator Carper has been a member of the Blood Bank for 30 years and donates on a regular basis. His phlebotomist was Christina Albaladejo.
