August 14, 2009Senator Carper joined Lt. Gov. Matt Denn as Lt. Gov. Denn announce a proposal submitted to the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) that would fund outreach coordinators at three faith based/nonprofit organizations to increase awareness of and enrollment in Delaware's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). With them are Rev. Tyrone Johnson, Interdenominational Ministers Action Council and Rev. Rob Hall, DE Ecumenical Council on Children and Families.
August 7, 2009 — DoverSenator Carper was honored to participate in the handover of a KC135 aircraft from the 108th Air Refueling Wing, McGuire AFB, N.J., to the AMC Museum. The addition of the Stratotanker brings the Museum's collection of aircraft up to 28. This particular aircraft retired after more than 50 years of service to the United States Air Force and Air National Guard.
August 7, 2009 — SmyrnaSenator Carper took at look at the new downtown Smyrna Streetscape project. This project has almost $1 million in funding from the Transportation Enhancement Program and the projects will improve utility services, add visual values, create construction jobs and foster the vitality of the local economy. He was joined by Smyrna town officials including Dave Hugg, Town Manager and Mayor Pat Stombaugh.
