Thank you very much for your interest in a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy. Each year, members of Congress nominate young men and women for the opportunity to be appointed to a U.S. Service Academy.
Knowing the impact military service had on my life, I take this opportunity very seriously. As a former Naval Flight Officer and retired U.S. Navy Captain, I appreciate how the benefits of military and public service shape one's future. The academies seek future leaders who possess the "whole person" concept, which includes having good moral character, a commendable academic record, medical and physical fitness, the desire to serve and the motivation to lead. The application deadline has been extended to 11:59 p.m. on October 31. Your application will be reviewed once it is submitted. If you meet the general requirements, you will be contacted in writing to sit for an interview with my Service Academy Interview Panel. Nominations are announced in late December or early January; candidates are notified in writing.
