The Delaware Transit Corporation provides 10 million passenger trips annually with 14.9 million service miles, and serves all three counties.
Advanced Composite Maritime Manufacturing

Automotive-Based Fuel Cell Hybrid Bus Program

The objective is to have the project's efficient and uniquely low-cost design of fuel cell transit buses spur commercialization of this technology, which will help reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil and enable the United States to meet its goal of greenhouse gases reductions. The University will use the funds to create an advanced, 40-foot fuel cell hybrid bus and convert its network of slow-fill hydrogen stations to fast-fill stations.

Airmen who work at the Port Mortuary would also utilize the new facility. An improvised chapel is currently being used to host families who come to the base to receive our fallen heroes.
Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System

Composite Applied Research and Technology for FCS and Tactical Vehicle Survivability

Current combat and tactical vehicles use steel and aluminum for structure and armor, which limits tactical mobility because of the weight, and wears out vehicles before their normal service life ends. Capitalizing on technology advances and facilitating the quick transition of new and better composite armor and material technologies into Army tactical vehicles helps meet the critical needs to protect soldiers and provide them with the best equipment to carry out their missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Consolidated Communications Facility

Cybersecurity in Tactical Environments

Gaining the ability to discover vulnerabilities in battlefield networks is essential in safeguarding military intelligence, communication systems and protecting our troops on the ground.

Traditional imaging systems suffer from poor performance in harsh environments, such as fog, mist, blowing sand, smoke and dust. Traditional imaging systems also are incapable of seeing through obscurants, such as clothing, luggage, packaging, and walls. Images utilizing mmW can penetrate deeper into these obscurants and in some cases propagate completely through them. Creating a stable, light-weight imaging system that is impervious to weather conditions will help the military gain considerable tactical advantages and enhanced safety.

These funds will cover the cost of design, fabrication, assembly, instrumentation and check out of propulsion and control system modifications that will enable flight beyond the current operating limits of the baseline conventional helicopter. Many current US combat and humanitarian operations require rotorcraft capabilities well beyond those of existing fleet helicopters.
