Sen. Carper Votes to Confirm Jack Lew as Treasury Secretary

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement after voting to confirm Jack Lew as Secretary of the Treasury:

“Jack has the unique combination of private and public sector experience that make him the right man to lead the Treasury Department during this critical time. With decades of experience on Capitol Hill, in both the Clinton and Obama Administrations and within the business community, he knows what needs to be done to make our economic recovery more robust and to put our country on a sustainable fiscal path. In the coming weeks and months, we face a number of economic trials for our country including sequestration, the need for a resolution to fund our government, and another potential increase in the debt ceiling. Secretary Lew is well-suited to ably navigate our Treasury Department through those dicey waters, and I expect him to work well with leaders in Congress to help find solutions to these future ‘fiscal cliffs.’ I congratulate Jack and his family on his confirmation, and I look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.”
