DOVER, Del. – On Friday, May 3, 2013, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) will attend and make remarks at the following events in Kent and Sussex counties:

Sen. Carper, chair of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, will speak to 8th and 9th grade students about cybersecurity and STEM careers. DigiGirlz is a day- long interactive event designed to encourage girls to explore higher education and careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Time: 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Location: Wilmington University, Building A, Dover Campus, 3282 North DuPont Hwy., Dover

Sen. Carper will visit Centaur Training LLC, winner of the 2013 Governor's Agricultural and Urban Conservation Awards, to recognize its outstanding environmental stewardship during Delaware Stewardship Week. Centaur Training, established in 2003, is a training facility for riding horses near Bridgeville. The award recognizes the commitment to protecting our land and water for future generations.

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Location: 22000 Heritage Farm Road, Bridgeville

Sen. Carper will stop by the Bridgeville farm TS Smith and Sons for the launch of their new peach hard cider. TS Smith and Sons farm grows peaches, apples, asparagus, sweet corn, cantaloupes, pumpkins and squash.
