Senator Carper Praises Allison Macfarlane’s “Strong, Steady Hand” at NRC

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety, issued a statement following the Senate’s re-confirmation of Dr. Allison Macfarlane as Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC):

“Yesterday, the Senate again confirmed Dr. Allison Macfarlane as Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Over the past year, Allison has led the NRC with a strong, steady hand during this pivotal time for American nuclear energy. Working with her colleagues on the Commission, she is overseeing the construction of our country’s first new nuclear reactors in decades while ensuring that all nuclear plants are secure and safe for all Americans, as well as for our natural environment. I’m glad that the Senate has moved so swiftly to secure her position on the Commission and to ensure continuity and clarity in its leadership. I look forward to continuing my work with Dr. Macfarlane as we pursue a future of safer and more plentiful American nuclear energy.”
