Sen. Carper Co-Sponsors Common Sense Campaign Finance Disclosure Bill

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) co-sponsored legislation introduced to return transparency to elections, called the Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections (DISCLOSE) Act of 2014. After the bill was introduced, Sen. Carper released the following statement in support of the legislation:

“The American people deserve to know who’s funding our nation’s elections. By requiring outside groups to reveal their donors, the DISCLOSE Act would give Delawareans – and all Americans – the tools and information they need to know who is attempting to influence their vote at the ballot box. Increasing transparency in our political process isn’t a partisan issue — it’s a common sense way to demonstrate to the American people that Congress is committed to improving the public’s faith in the political process.”
