Sen. Carper Votes to Confirm Loretta Lynch as Attorney General

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement after voting to confirm Loretta Lynch as U.S. attorney general.

“I’m proud to have voted in favor of Loretta Lynch’s confirmation as U.S. attorney general. Her nomination languished for far too long in the confirmation process – longer than the last seven attorney general nominees combined – but she is eminently qualified and I am happy to see her assume this critical role. After meeting with her, talking with my colleagues and hearing from others who have gotten to know her, I am confident she will be an excellent leader at the Department of Justice.

“I’d also like to thank Attorney General Eric Holder for his dedicated service to our country. Having passed six years on the job, Attorney General Holder is now the nation’s third-longest-serving attorney general and he has served admirably through some undoubtedly challenging times.”
