Carper, Jones Introduce Senate Resolution Honoring America’s Assistant Principals

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Tom Carper (D-Del.) and Doug Jones (D-Ala.) introduced a resolution declaring this week, April 9 – 13, 2018, as National Assistant Principals Week to honor and recognize the pivotal role assistant principals play in the success of students and teachers in schools across the United States.

“Assistant Principals, like all great schools leaders, play a pivotal role in raising student achievement and improving America’s schools” said Senator Carper. “Assistant principals help mentor our nation’s educators while also working to implement best practices. They often help our students reach their goals by really getting to know them and their families, while also completing the day-to-day activities that keep kids productive in the classroom. From advancing curriculum to keeping students safe in the car line, assistant principals are vital to the success of every school and deserve to be recognized for their hard work.”

“Assistant Principals serve in a unique capacity as school leaders and mentors for our students, said Senator Jones. “While we rightly celebrate the tremendous work performed by our teachers, I’m proud to also be part of the effort to recognize the essential role that our school administrators play.”

National Assistant Principal’s Week promotes awareness of the role played by assistant principals in school leadership and ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality education.
