Carper Applauds Confirmation of Brenda Mallory to Chair the White House Council on Environmental Quality

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), today voted with a bipartisan majority in the Senate to confirm Brenda Mallory to be Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) by a vote of 53-45. Before the vote, Senator Carper spoke in favor of Mallory’s confirmation on the Senate floor and urged his colleagues to support her nomination.

“Brenda Mallory at the helm of CEQ can play the leadership role that’s needed in addressing environmental justice and meeting the challenges of climate change in a way that lifts up all communities and achieves a brighter, more equitable future,” Senator Carper stated. “She will bring honor and humility to her role, just as she has done in her decades of service to this country. As Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality, she will be a leader who brings people together to form lasting solutions to the challenges that we face today.”
