Event

WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security, will hold a hearing titled "Saving Taxpayer Dollars by Curbing Waste and Fraud in Medicaid" on Thursday, June 14th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

The hearing will examine opportunities for curbing waste and fraud in Medicaid. Official estimates of Medicaid improper payments are in the tens of billions of dollars annually, and recent reports by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the Department of Health and Human Services have raised serious questions about the efficacy of current Medicaid program integrity efforts. The Health and Human Services inspector general, the Government Accountability Office and other experts have identified specific steps to greatly improve the level of success of anti-waste and fraud efforts.
