Sen. Carper to view Christiana Care Health System's Middletown Emergency Department. This new location, currently under construction, will include 18 treatment bays and eight observation-unit beds staffed by board-certified physicians and specially trained nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The emergency department will serve a population of approximately of 86,000 residents of lower New Castle County and upper Kent County.
