WILMINGTON, Del. – On Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) will join Gov. Jack Markell, DNREC Secretary Collin O'Mara and DelDOT Secretary Shailen Bhatt to open the Pomeroy Rail Trail.

The Pomeroy Newark Rail Trail will connect to the James F. Hall Trail to the south and the expansive trail network in the White Clay Creek State Park to the north. It will pass through downtown Newark, providing economic benefits to businesses. The trail, which was made possible by a $4.7 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration and state funds, will provide another opportunity for people to ride bikes or walk and leave their car at home.

WHERE:

At the connection of the Pomeroy Newark Rail Trail and the James F. Hall Trail. Look for the UD General Services Building located at 220 South Chapel Street, Newark, Del. There will be signs for parking and staff available to assist attendees.
