WILMINGTON, Del. – On Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons (both D-Del.) will attend the following events in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:    

The Senators will greet attendees at the Organization for Minority Women event.

Time: 7:45 a.m.

Location: Chase Center on the Riverfront, 815 Justison Street, Wilmington

The Senators will join more than 200 attendees at the Delaware State Bar Association Breakfast. Lani Guinier, a civil rights attorney and the first tenured African American female professor at Harvard, who will be the keynote speaker. 

Time: 8 a.m.

Location: Chase Center on the Riverfront, 815 Justison Street, Wilmington

The Senators will attend the 31st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the officers and members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Zeta Rho Lambda Chapter of Dover. Approximately 800 people are expected at this event.

Time: 9:30 a.m.

Location: Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover

The Senators will attend the 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration hosted by the Inner City Cultural League, Inc. The theme for the day of celebration and community service is “Remember! Celebrate! Act!  Day on, Not a day off!”

Time: Noon
