Sen. Carper will attend an event to mark the restart of PBF's Delaware City petroleum refinery in Delaware City. In June 2010, the refinery was purchased by PBF, leading to the rehiring of nearly 500 employees and up to 250 contract employees. The University of Delaware estimates that the refinery's re-opening will bring approximately 2,000 jobs to the state and nearly $100 million in state and local tax revenues.
