"Harnessing Technology and Innovation to Cut Waste and Curb Fraud in Federal Health Programs"

WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security, will hold a hearing titled, "Harnessing Technology and Innovation to Cut Waste and Curb Fraud in Federal Health Programs" on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 2:30pm in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

The hearing will examine efforts by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) to curb waste and fraud, including utilizing new technology. The hearing will also explore additional tools that the Administration can use to help combat waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid, including provisions outlined in bipartisan legislation introduced last month by Sen. Carper and Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), the Medicare and Medicaid Fighting Fraud and Abuse to Save Taxpayers Dollars Act (S.1251), also known as the "FAST Act."
