WASHINGTON – Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security, will hold a hearing titled, "Costs of Prescription Drug Abuse in the Medicare Part D Program" on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in room 342 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.
The hearing will examine the fiscal impact of fraud and abuse of prescription drugs in the Medicare Part D program. Witnesses will testify on the taxpayer costs of such abuse and how it affects our public healthcare system overall. Witnesses will also discuss what government officials are doing to identify and prevent exploitation of the program.
