Monday: Sen. Carper in Kent County
Dec 02 2013
DOVER, Del. – On Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, U.S. Sen. Carper (D-Del.) will attend the following events in Kent County:
Sen. Carper will host his annual Farm Bureau Breakfast. Sen. Carper will address the crowd of approximately 100 people from the agriculture community and take questions from attendees.
Time: 7:30 – 9 a.m.
Location: Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, Del.
Sen. Carper will visit the Milford Senior Center and talk to seniors about Medicare Part D open enrollment, which runs now until Dec. 7. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare benefits for the 150,000 Medicare enrollees in Delaware include lower prescription drug costs through a 50 percent discount on covered brand name drugs in the coverage gap – or “donut hole” – as well as wellness checkups and access to certain preventive care with no copayments.
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: 111 Park Avenue, Milford, Del.
Sen. Carper will ring the Salvation Army Bell at Acme as part of the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Bell Campaign. The Red Kettle Campaign runs from Thanksgiving Day through Christmas Eve and is the largest and longest-running fundraiser of its kind. It provides toys for kids, coats for the homeless, food for the hungry and countless social service programs year-round. As part of the campaign, more than 25,000 Salvation Army volunteers throughout the country ring bells and solicit donations to the red kettles.
Time: 3 – 4 p.m.
Location: Acme, Route 13, Dover, Del.
