Event

GEORGETOWN, Del. – On Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, U.S. Sen. Carper (D-Del.) will attend the following events in Sussex County:

Sen. Carper will talk to seniors about Medicare Part D benefits and open enrollment, which runs now until Dec. 7, at the Long Neck CHEER Center. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, Medicare benefits for the 150,000 Medicare enrollees in Delaware include lower prescription drug costs through a 50 percent discount on covered brand name drugs in the coverage gap – or “donut hole” – as well as wellness checkups and access to certain preventive care with no copayments.

Time: 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Location: CHEER Center, 26089 Long Neck Road, Long Neck, Del.

Sen. Carper will visit Shields Elementary School, a newly designated Blue Ribbon School. Founded in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students' academic achievement.

Time: 1-2 p.m.

Location: 910 Shields Avenue, Lewes, Del.
