REHOBOTH BEACH – On Tuesday, July 3, 2012, U.S. Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons (both D-Del.) will meet with customers and vendors at the Rehoboth Beach Farmers' Market and discuss how the recently passed Farm Bill legislation will help Delaware's agriculture community. They will be joined by Rehoboth Beach Mayor Sam Cooper.
In June, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly passed the bipartisan Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2012, commonly referred to as the 2012 Farm Bill, that reduces the deficit by over $23 billion, eliminates wasteful spending, protects and restores the Chesapeake Bay, provides our hard-working farmers with a critical safety net, and increases support for farmers markets and local food efforts.
