On Monday, March 12, 2012, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) will join AmeriCorps members and students at Fairview Elementary School in Dover to participate in their school clean up day. This event is a part of AmeriCorps week, to honor and bring awareness to the important work AmeriCorps members do in Delaware communities. Sen. Carper will address the volunteers at lunch and join in on their clean-up work.

There are currently 170 AmeriCorps members working in Delaware to provide a service to meet education, environmental, health, economic and other pressing needs in communities across Delaware. Each year during AmeriCorps Week, the commitment of AmeriCorps members and alumni are recognized for the extraordinary impact AmeriCorps makes across our nation every day.
