BACKGROUND: U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Clean Air and Nuclear Safety, will convene a hearing to review U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) federal safeguards replacing the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) and the Clean Air Mercury Rule (CAMR). The Subcommittee will review upcoming EPA electric utility air pollution requirements to address transport pollution and air toxics.
