Ursuline Academy junior Breanne Porter is going to Congress.

Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., Tuesday announced her acceptance in the U.S. Senate Page Program, which selects about 100 candidates nationwide.

Carper called it "a tremendous honor, not just for Breanne, her family and her school, but for the entire state of Delaware."

Breanne, 17, is the daughter of Timothy and Colleen Porter of Camden.

Pages get the chamber ready for use and deliver correspondence and legislative materials throughout the congressional complex. They get to see democracy at work, Carper said, and "along the way, Senate pages learn valuable skills, make lifelong friends and witness history being made."
