The American Jobs Act saw defeat in the US Senate. Both Senators Chris Coons and Tom Carper voted for the American Jobs Act, which failed to get the needed 60 votes needed to end debate on the issue. The final vote was 51 to 48. Senator Coons says the measure would have helped Delawareans who are looking for work while boosting the economic recovery. Senator Carper has similar feelings and hopes that the efforts will continue to pass the Jobs Act as soon as possible by whatever means possible – even if that means taking a piece-by-piece approach, which the White House is open to doing.
