Statements and Speeches

WASHINGTON – Today, Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Tom Carper (D-Del.) issued a statement following the Senate’s confirmation of Anne Rung to be Administrator, Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

“The Office of Federal Procurement Policy is a small office with big responsibilities,” said Chairman Carper. “The leadership of this office is critical in ensuring that the federal government has the proper framework in place to make smart financial decisions. Anne Rung is someone who has demonstrated terrific hands-on experience and has shown that a little common-sense can save a lot of money. I know she will lead the way to help the government do more with fewer resources – and get better results in the end. I look forward to working with her in this important capacity and I thank her for her continued service.”

Chairman Carper also highlighted the confirmation of Joseph L. Nimmich to be Deputy Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):

“Joseph L. Nimmich will take on a crucial role in helping our country prepare for and respond to disasters. He has significant field experience during his more than three decades of service in the United States Coast Guard and a steep knowledge of regional emergency response coordination. I have the utmost confidence that he will work well with FEMA Administrator Fugate to keep our nation prepared for whatever comes next, and I thank him for his continued service to our country.”

The Senate confirmed both nominees by voice vote.
