WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) highlighted an upcoming seminar on how to apply for the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Brownfields Assessment, Cleanup and Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grants. For the FY 2012 Brownfields competitive grants proposal cycle, the EPA Mid-Atlantic Region is offering a free seminar on October 25, 2011 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on how to apply for the federal funding. Parties interested in applying for the grant funding are strongly encouraged to participate in the training.

States, communities, and nonprofit organizations in the Mid-Atlantic Region – including in Delaware – are eligible to apply. The seminar will review the proposal guidelines (with special emphasis on the threshold and ranking criteria), the selection process, new aspects of the guidelines, helpful hints, and tips for preparing proposals.

The material will be available on EPA's website within the next week. But please keep in mind that participants will need to download the two PowerPoint presentations titled "How to Apply for EPA's Brownfields Grants FY12" and "Tips on Preparing FY12 Brownfields Cleanup Grant Proposals" in order to follow along with the training.

FY 2012 Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund and Cleanup Grant Guidelines

Request for Proposals. These grants may be used to address sites contaminated by petroleum and hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants (including hazardous substances co-mingled with petroleum). Opportunities for funding are as follows: Brownfields Assessment Grants (each funded up to $200,000 over three years; coalitions are funded up to $1,000,000 over three years), Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Grants (each funded up to $1,000,000 over five years) and Brownfields Cleanup Grants (each funded up to $200,000 over three years).
