Job seekers should come with their resumes in-hand as the delegation hosts its third Delaware job fair

WILMINGTON, Del. – To help Delawareans looking for work during this difficult economic time, U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative John Carney (all D-Del.) will host a free job fair on Monday, September 26th, from 9 am to 3 pm at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown. Job seekers are encouraged to come with their resumes in-hand as the delegation kicks off its third job fair in Delaware.
More than 55 employers will be on hand looking to hire, including M&T Bank, which needs to hire 60 people for its Millsboro location by November. Recruiters from M&T’s human resources department will conduct on-the-spot interviews for part-time and full-time operations specialists, senior telephone service representatives, telephone sales representatives, supervisors and early-stage credit counselors.
“Connecting Delawareans with employment opportunities is one of our top priorities as we work our way to economic recovery in Delaware and around the nation,” said Senator Carper. “Today’s job seekers are faced with more competition than ever and we will do everything we can to make sure they have the skills and tools they need to re-enter the workforce and be successful. I encourage those seeking work in Sussex County to come out and explore the options and information available at this job fair.”
“Helping our neighbors find jobs in this tough economic time continues to be my top priority,” Senator Coons said. “The job fairs we’ve hosted around the state this year will be part of an ongoing effort to help Delawareans access new opportunities and resources for getting a job. Just as we have for our job fairs New Castle and Kent counties, we need to come together as a community and connect those looking for jobs in and around Sussex County with employers who are ready to hire. More than 55 companies, organizations and government agencies have already signed up to talk to folks about their job openings, so I hope Delawareans looking to get back to work will come to this job fair with resumes in-hand.”
“Putting Delawareans back to work is my top priority,” said Congressman Carney. “The Sussex County job fair is a great opportunity to bring potential employees together with businesses, government agencies, and our colleges and universities to help more people find employment that supports themselves and their families. I urge anyone looking for a job to attend the Sussex County job fair and learn more about the companies looking to hire Delawareans.”
In addition to networking with companies looking to hire, job seekers can also take advantage of the myriad workshops, career counseling and resume review opportunities, including:
- “New Strategies for Changing Times: Transform Your Mind and Embrace Change,” with career coach Joyce Dungee Proctor
- Resume review with a career services counselor from Delaware Technical and Community College
- “Applying for jobs with the State of Delaware,” with the Delaware Office of Management and Budget
