Wilmington, DE – Senator Tom Carper will switch hats for part of the workday to deliver packages for UPS in an alternative-fuel vehicle on Main Street in Newark, Delaware. The delivery truck that the Senator will be driving is one that uses compressed natural gas (CNG) as its fuel. UPS has a fleet of over 1,800 alternative fuel vehicles in North America, including the Freight Liner CNG vehicle. CNG vehicles emit 95% lower emissions than diesel trucks, 75% less carbon monoxide, and 49% less nitrogen oxide.
