Washington, DC - The Senate Banking Committee tomorrow will question William Donaldson, President Bush’s nominee to be the new Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Committee. Senator Tom Carper, a member of the committee, expects Donaldson to be questioned about his commitment to enforcing new corporate governance laws and his plans to restore investor confidence. “The SEC needs a strong leader to restore investors’ shaken confidence,” Carper said. “With last year’s corporate scandals and the possibility of military action this year, the greatest economic stimulus we can offer business and investors is some degree of certainty. With real leadership and a commitment to enforcing tough new laws, the SEC can provide some degree of certainty.” WHO: Senator Tom Carper, SEC Nominee William Donaldson
