WILMINGTON – Senator Tom Carper will throw the opening pitch to kick off the Blue Rocks home season opener against the Salem Avalanche on Friday, April 15, 2005. The pre-game ceremony will begin at 6:30 pm, during which Senator Carper will welcome the crowd. The first pitch will be at 7:05 pm. During the past 12 years, the Blue Rocks have posted the best winning percentage (.564) of any long-season team in minor league baseball. The 2005 season will feature a new chapter in the history of the franchise as the Wilmington Blue Rocks join forces with their brand new major league affiliate, the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox.
