DOVER, DE - Kent Countians will have an opportunity to have their voices heard in the nation's Capitol soon, as Senator Tom Carper sets out in Dover Thursday for a day anchored with town hall meetings. Carper will begin the day with a lengthy senior summit. Invited seniors from all over the county will have the opportunity to talk with their Senator about local and national issues of importance to them. Carper will meet with residents of one of Dover's premiere impatient drug and alcohol rehab program before reading with Kent County youngsters ranging from three to five years old at the Central Branch YMCA's after school program. Carper will hold the second of three town hall meetings on his "Balancing Budget Priorities" Tour in Dover Thursday evening. The tour is focused on the tough choices Congress faces on the future of social security, Medicare, defense spending and investments in education. Carper will be asking Delawareans to present their priorities at meetings. Invited seniors from all over the county will have a chance to speak to their Senator at length about local and national issues of importance to them. This is the first of three visits Carper will make this week to area health programs working together to serve the under and uninsured.
