WASHINGTON -- The Department of the Interior and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission today announced an important agreement to work together to allow renewable energy production in offshore waters.
This new agreement will allow the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to have jurisdiction over hydrokinetic energy, and the Minerals Management Service of the Department of Interior to have jurisdiction for other sources of renewable energy.
Just last week, the Delaware delegation led an effort urging the new Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to quickly issue regulations for offshore energy production.
