Happy Thanksgiving, Delaware!

Dear Friend,

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year. While celebrating with my family, I like to take time to reflect on the past year, give back to our community, and think about how we can help those around the world in need.

This year, I am especially grateful to help usher in the implementation of historic legislation that we passed last Congress. For example, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is improving lives up and down the First State by investing in road safety and clean energy, while also creating thousands of good-paying jobs. Delawareans are also experiencing lower energy and health care costs thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, with 63,000 folks saving an average of $449 on their medications. I’ve also been hard at work to bring more mental health resources to our state, including a $1 million grant that the delegation and I worked to deliver to TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford.

Most years, I like to give back to Delaware by participating in activities like the Thanksgiving Day Multiple Sclerosis 5K Race in Wilmington or serving warm meals at the Emmanuel Dining Room. If you or a loved one are volunteering your time this year, I want to thank you for sharing the holiday spirit with those in need. Over Thanksgiving, and all year round, such meaningful acts of service make me proud to represent our state.

This holiday season, I am praying for those around the world who have experienced unimaginable suffering this year, especially those in Israel, Gaza, and Ukraine. As we work together in Congress to provide humanitarian aid for those in need, I pray for enduring peace every day.

I wish you all a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Tom Carper
