Thank you very much for your interest in a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy. Each year, members of Congress nominate young men and women for the opportunity to be appointed to a U.S. Service Academy.
Knowing the impact military service had on my life, I take this opportunity very seriously. As a former Naval Flight Officer and retired U.S. Navy Captain, I appreciate how the benefits of military and public service shape one’s future. The academies seek future leaders who possess the “whole person” concept, which includes having good moral character, a commendable academic record, medical and physical fitness, the desire to serve and the motivation to lead. You should begin the nomination process by creating your online account with your personal password. By creating this account, you are notifying me of your interest in a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy. Click here to create an account and access the online application. The deadline for applications to be submitted is October 15, 2022, at 11:59pm. Your application will be reviewed once the deadline passes. If you meet the general requirements, you will be contacted in writing to sit for an interview with my Service Academy Interview Panel. Nominations are announced in January; candidates are notified in writing.

To be considered for an appointment to a U.S. Service Academy, you must have a nomination from an authorized nominating source. Title 10 of the U.S. Code establishes two nominating authorities. The first, usually referred to as “congressional” nominations, includes the nominations of the Vice President and members of the U.S. Congress. The second, usually referred to as “service-connected” or “military-affiliated” nominations, includes selections by the President and nominations from the appropriate service (i.e., Secretary of the Army for nomination to the U.S. Military Academy).
