Wishing you a happy Fourth of July!

Dear Friends,

I want to take a moment to wish you and your loved ones a happy Independence Day. The celebration of our nation’s birthday is one of my favorite holidays because we have the opportunity to celebrate it together with friends, family and all of our fellow Americans.

On this important day, as we celebrate our independence with parades, fireworks, and other exciting festivities, we should also take a chance to honor our founding fathers who had the vision for this great country more than 230 years ago, and thank the brave men and women of our armed forces who have fought to protect the freedoms we cherish. Every year, we have the opportunity to reflect on what being an American means. To me, it’s about celebrating our strengths as a country and vowing to work together to form a more perfect union for centuries to come.

I’d love to hear what being an American means to you through email or by contacting me on Twitter @SenatorCarper or on Facebook at facebook.com/tomcarper.

I wish you all a happy and safe Independence Day!

Tom Carper
