Carper Statement on EPA Rescission of Harmful Trump Cost-Benefit Rule

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today released the following statement after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced plans to rescind a Trump Administration rule that would limit would warp the cost-benefit analysis EPA uses for regulations.

“This is another important step in bringing back science to the regulatory process and rebuilding public trust at EPA. The previous administration attempted to prevent EPA from assessing the real benefits of cleaning up climate and air toxic pollution, making it harder for EPA to hold polluters accountable. By rescinding this harmful rule, EPA will be able to better protect Americans from the dangers of climate change and air toxic pollution like mercury and lead. Administrator Regan continues to show real leadership as he works to undo this damage and get the agency back on track.”
