Carper Statement on the Biden Administration’s Proposal to Restore our Nation’s Bedrock Environmental Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today released the following statement on the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) taking steps to restore key provisions in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations.

“This is a welcome move by the Biden Administration that will protect communities and the environment. At a time when we are on the precipice of passing a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure, the changes proposed today will improve certainty to avoid project slowdowns and litigation. Importantly, this proposal will restore the primary means of evaluating the impacts of federal action on the environment and ensure a more equitable process. Reinstating these provisions of our nation’s foundational environmental law is good for our planet and good for our economy—a win-win.”
