Carper to Urge Senate Panel to Approve Delaware Nominee

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Tom Carper will introduce Delaware attorney Kent Jordan to the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow and urge the committee to confirm him. Jordan was nominated by President George W. Bush to serve as U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Delaware. “I believe Kent Jordan can and will serve Delawareans well as our District Court Judge. He has a broad range of experience and is a great fit for our state,” Carper said. “It is my hope that Mr. Jordan will continue in the tradition of fine jurists that comprise Delaware’s judiciary, especially in the District Court.” Jordan graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center and clerked in the District Court for Judge James L. Latchum. He has served as an Assistant United States Attorney and worked in private practice as a partner at Morris, James, Hitchens & Williams. Jordan currently works as Vice President and General Counsel in charge of nationwide management, information services, corporate compliance and company formation business for the Corporation Service Company. “From patent disputes to copyright and trademark infringement, Delaware’s District Court judges are nationally renowned as leaders in intellectual property law,” Carper said. “I will recommend him to the Judiciary Committee and will vote for him when his nomination comes before the Senate.”
