Carper Statement on Senate Passage of Child Tax Credit

WASHINGTON, DC – Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) issued the following statement about today’s passage of a bill that would expand the child tax credit for low-income workers. Such a provision was left out of the $350 billion tax cut legislation signed into law last month. “Today’s passage in the Senate of a bill that would extend the child tax credit for low-income families is a good example of how tax policy should work in Washington. The bill is eminently fair, a product of broad, bipartisan consensus, and unlike the recently enacted tax cut bill, it is completely paid for and will not add to our deficit. I commend the Senate for taking this responsible step.”
