Sen. Carper’s Kent County Schedule for Monday, December 13, 2004

~Donating Turkeys to Harrington Senior Center’s Adopt-a-Family Program~ ~Recognize Students at Booker T. Washington Elementary for being Nominated for a National Blue Ribbon School Award~

Dover, DE – Senator Tom Carper will spend Monday, December 13, 2004, in Kent County. The Senator will participate in the Harrington Senior Center’s Adopt-a-Family program by donating two frozen turkeys to the cause. Members of the senior center are sponsoring several local families through the Adopt-a-Family program. Senator Carper will also have lunch, and learn about another charitable organization for which members of the senior center are trying to raise money–Operation Santa Claus Angel Flight. This organization uses volunteer pilots to fly patients to specialized medical care hospitals and facilities across the nation. Senator Carper will then recognize students at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Dover for being nominated as a National Blue Ribbon School. The Senator will offer congratulations on this national recognition to the school, teachers and faculty. Senator Carper will also talk with students about his role as a United States Senator and how the U.S. Government operates.
