Carper’s Energy Tour Arrives in Newark Tomorrow, Senator Hosts ‘Conversations on America’s Energy Future’

WASHINGTON, DC – As the newest member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Senator Tom Carper will play a major role in creating an energy policy for the nation. He is asking Delawareans in New Castle County to share their expertise, experience and concerns with him at tomorrow’s “Conversations on America’s Energy Future” in Newark. “Before big debates in the Senate on issues like education, prescription drug benefits for seniors and the nation’s budget, Delawareans have come to town hall meetings and shared their invaluable experience and opinions with me,” Carper said. “We now face a great debate over our nation’s energy policy. A discussion of Delaware’s best practices will help us reach our goal of improving energy conservation while responsibly developing new energy sources.” Delaware residents looking for more information should call Senator Carper’s New Castle County Director Tyrone Jones at 302-573-6291. “I look forward to a lively discussion of new technologies that reduce pollution and improve efficiency, new renewable energy sources like soy biodiesel and hydrogen fuel cells, and the formation of some consensus around a national energy policy,” Carper said. WHO: Senator Tom Carper, New Castle county residents, business leaders and environmentalists WHAT: “Conversations on America’s Energy Future” Town Hall Meeting WHERE: University of Delaware College of Agriculture 132 Townsend Hall, Newark WHEN: 10 AM to Noon
