Georgetown, DE – Sen. Tom Carper will spend Friday, March 19, 2004, in Sussex County. Sen. Carper will speak at the Laurel Senior Center and the Georgetown CHEER Center, where he will discuss the Medicare prescription drug bill. Senator Carper will address the escalating cost of prescription drugs by highlighting a bill that he is co-sponsoring with Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD). The Medicare Prescription Drug Price Reduction Act would repeal the provision included in the recently passed Medicare legislation that bars Medicare from negotiating for lower prescription drug prices for beneficiaries. The bill would grant Medicare the authority to work with drug companies to obtain lower prices for seniors and persons with disabilities. Showell Elementary School in Selbyville as part of “I Love to Read” month.
