Carper: “We pray for a short war with minimal casualties on both sides”

Wilmington, DE – Senator Tom Carper issued the following statement after the President’s speech this evening on the commencement of military action against Iraq: “I wish Saddam Hussein chose another course – given up his weapons of mass destruction or sought exile. But the die has been cast,” Carper said. “Now we pray. We pray for our troops and for Iraqi civilians. We pray for a short, decisive war with minimal casualties on both sides.”
