Sens. Carper and Kaufman Statement on $38 Million in Energy Funding

WASHINGTON, DC – Sens. Tom Carper and Ted Kaufman (both D-Del.) released the following statement today after the White House announced that two Delaware agencies – the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) – will receive $37,964,668 for energy programs from the recently passed economic recovery package that both senators supported.

“This funding will accomplish three critical and timely goals: it will make our state more energy efficient; provide energy assistance to those who need it most; and create new, green jobs in Delaware,” said Sens. Carper and Kaufman. “From new roofs to insulation to modernized heating systems, these are real home and business improvements that will result from this $38 million in new federal funds coming to Delaware and at a time when renewable energy, efficiency, and energy education are a top local and national priority.”

DHSS will receive $13,733,668 for weatherization, and DNREC will receive $24,231,000 for its state energy program.
