Delaware Dept. of Education to Receive Almost $24,000 for the Advanced Placement Test Fee Program

Money will be used to pay for the costs of taking AP tests for low-income students

Wilmington, DE – The Delaware Department of Education is set to receive $23,972 from the U.S. Department of Education for the Advanced Placement Test Fee program, which pays the costs for low-income students taking the Advanced Placement tests, Senator Tom Carper announced today. “This program will help those who need the financial assistance the most,” said Senator Tom Carper. “It gives low income students a fair shot in taking Advanced Placement tests and receiving college credit.” The AP Test Fee program is designed to increase the number of low-income students who take advanced placement test and receive scores of which college academic credit is awarded. Participation in this program helps low-income students achieve to higher standards in English, mathematics, science, and other core subjects. The program also seeks to increase the number of low-income students who achieve baccalaureate and advanced degrees.
