Delaware Congressional Delegation Response to Wind Farm Agreement

WASHINGTON — Delaware’s Congressional Delegation – Sens. Joe Biden (D-Del.) and Tom Carper (D-Del.) and U.S. Representative Mike Castle (R-Del.) – today congratulated Delmarva Power and Bluewater Wind/Babcock & Brown in reaching an agreement regarding a wind park off the Delaware coast.

“We are pleased that Delmarva Power and Babcock & Brown worked out a compromise that will allow this important energy project to move forward and help us begin to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.  Wind parks, both on land and offshore, are an important part of our nation’s strategy to combat climate change, reduce our dependence on foreign sources of energy and improve the quality of the air we breathe.

"We are excited that the First State could be the first in the nation to support this new wind technology. We commend our state government for taking the initiative to investigate and pursue clean, renewable, and stable energy sources for Delaware.

"The delegation stands ready to help make an offshore wind park a reality in Delaware.”
