Carper Congratulates Colonel Gilbert For His Service and Welcomes Colonel Wuesthoff to his Dover Air Force Base

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Tom Carper today congratulated Colonel Taco Gilbert on his service to Dover Air Force Base and welcomed Colonel Scott Wuesthoff to his new post as the wing commander of the base. Gilbert’s nomination to brigadier general marks the end of his inspiring run as commander of the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base. “Taco Gilbert has been a true and faithful servant to the people of Delaware. He is a gifted aviator, and a motivated and inspirational leader,” Carper said. “We’ll miss him, but he goes forward leaving a wonderful legacy behind.” As the new commander, Wuesthoff is responsible for the AirForce’s only all C-5 wing providing worldwide movement of high priority personnel and cargo. “Colonel Wuesthoff’s assignment highlights an important time in the history of Dover Air Force Base as we fight to upgrade our C-5s and integrate C-17s,” Carper said. “I look forward to working with him to ensure that the base remains both viable and beneficial.” Gilbert’s new assignment will take him to Colorado Springs, Colorado as commander of cadets at the Air Force Academy.
